What data the app collects
None. Specifically:
- No personally identifiable information (PII) — no name, email, address, date of birth, phone number, or photograph.
- No accounts — the app has no login screen.
- No device identifiers — no AAID, IMEI, IMSI, SIM serial, BSSID, SSID, MAC, or device serial (verified by repository audit 2026-04-24).
- No location data — no location permission is declared or requested.
- No contacts, calendar, or other personal data.
- No usage analytics — no Firebase Analytics, Google Analytics, Crashlytics, Flurry, Adjust, or similar. Zero third-party SDKs beyond AndroidX and the Kotlin standard library.
- No advertising — no ad SDK, no ad placements, no remarketing.
What data is stored on YOUR device
Petabytes keeps a small on-device save file for your pet’s game state using Android’s standard DataStore, in the app’s private storage. It includes:
- The pet species you chose and a nickname if you entered one.
- Pet stat bars (hunger, happiness, energy, hygiene, bond, XP) and current screen.
- Mini-game scores and unlock progress.
- Collected earned items (hats, treats) — local inventory.
This save file is not transmitted anywhere. It is readable only by the Petabytes process. Android automatically cleans it up when you uninstall the app or tap Clear data in the app’s system settings page.
Permissions the app requests, and why

No other permissions are requested. No location, no contacts, no camera, no SMS, no phone state, no storage access.
Data transmitted over the network
None. The app does not declare the INTERNET permission, which means Android blocks the app from making network connections entirely. The app cannot send data to the internet even if a bug tried to.
Children’s privacy (COPPA / GDPR-K / Families Policy)
Petabytes is designed for players of all ages, including children under 13. Because of the app’s audience, Petabytes is built to comply with:
- The U.S. Children’s Online Privacy Protection Act (COPPA).
- The EU / UK General Data Protection Regulation — Article 8 (children’s data).
- Google Play’s Families Policy and Designed for Families program.
Petabytes collects no data from anyone, regardless of age. There is nothing to age-gate, because there is nothing to collect. The PARTY MODE microphone feature uses an adult-gate consent screen before showing the Android permission prompt.
Third-party services
None. Petabytes contains no third-party SDKs. No services run inside the app on behalf of another company. The app does not integrate with social networks, does not share data with advertising partners, does not use any analytics provider, and does not integrate with any payment processor (there are no in-app purchases).
Your choices & data deletion
Because Petabytes never collects data off your device, there is no account to delete, no server to purge, and no data-access request to process.
To delete everything stored locally:
- Open Android Settings → Apps → Petabytes → Storage → Clear data, or
- Uninstall the app.
Either action permanently erases every bit of Petabytes data from your device.
Changes to this policy
If this policy changes, the new version will be dated at the top of this page and bundled with the next app update. The in-app PRIVACY button always opens the latest version.
